Bernice Reese

After being out of school for over thirty years, I must say that I am having the time of my life fighting for my job, my education, and my dignity.  It is true that you are never too old to learn. My dream is coming true!

A passion to be a blessing to others fuels Bernice Reese’s dream to be a nurse and she proves that you are never too old to learn!

Bernice’s dream after high school was to become a nurse – helping people and nursing the sick back to a healthy life. High school pregnancy, traveling with her military husband and then supporting her family took priority. Years passed and finally Bernice was able to enroll at Abraham Baldwin College. Only two semesters in and a divorce threw life into a tailspin. Bernice again placed her education on the back burner. Remarriage, a now thriving family and working as a school clinic aide reawakened the dream. After 15 years as an aide, school system changes presented Bernice with a new challenge to upgrade to a registered nurse. She’s back in the classroom at Abraham Baldwin where her peer students recognized her on the Distinguished Achievements List and she is on her way to an associate degree in nursing.
