A survivor designing a future

Tierra's volatile childhood was riddled with periods of strain, separations, and even violence and abuse. Despite the struggles she endured, by age twenty Tierra was self-sufficient, working several jobs and attending college full time. However, in 2008 Tierra became pregnant by her live in boyfriend and, when the relationship became abusive, she returned to living with her father. Sadly, he was unable to support her choices and Tierra was driven to obtain a restraining order so that she could undertake a fresh start for her child and herself.

Determined to focus on her education, Tierra obtained her Associate of Science degree in Architectural Drafting and enrolled at SCAD to finish her Bachelor of Fine Arts. Only months after Tierra's move to Atlanta, her child's father attacked Tierra. Hospitalizations, along with the mental and physical pain, could have crushed a less resilient person, but not Tierra! She is on track to graduate July 2015! Tierra gives back through her work with Wings of Gabriel Dance Ministry where she lifts others with her faith and her courage.
