Grace, humility & generosity of spirit are triumphant
Earning her BBA in Management from Mercer University in 1998, Rachel set about working hard as a commercial real estate financial analyst for eight years before becoming a mother. But her work felt superficial and didn't seem to make the difference she yearned for. When two of her best friends suffered stillborn losses and then her own daughter was diagnosed with an immune disorder, Rachel's longing found focus in nursing and her path to making the difference was found.
Rachel was 15 years out of college and she lacked only a few courses to meet nursing program prerequisites. So close to her path! She registered, purchased books and got her student ID and parking decal. But before the semester ever began, family circumstances forced her to withdraw. Five more years were to pass before Rachel could restart her journey.
Now divorced, Rachel and her three children are living with her parents as she completes her studies. She will earn her BSN Spring 2015 and plans to work first in obstetrics before pursuing her Family Nurse Practitioner degree.
