Christy received her associate degree after her grandmother encouraged the tenth grade dropout to return to school, get her GED and attend college. Unfortunately, plans to complete her bachelor’s degree were put on hold when an accident permanently disabled the father of Christy’s 6-month-old son. After many years, Christy now has the stability needed to return to school and obtain her bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications. This tireless young woman is wise beyond her years and committed to self-improvement for herself and her two sons. It has not been easy for her to find scholarships for part-time, non-traditional students, but her grandmother’s words of encouragement resonate still.
